Ever wonder what key items you should be bringing with you when you travel to help protect and enhance your immune system?

Whether on the road, flying, or spending time in a different country?

With travel comes different emotions, excitement or nervousness (which the body receives as one of the same), jet lag, exposures to different environments, different food, different water, different air...

When we travel our bodies are instantly exposed to an entire new spectrum of microbes that comes from the earth, food, water and surfaces in that area.

I have been very fortunate to have the opportunity to travel world-wide and connect with like-minded souls, eco-communities and permaculture farms along the way.  From these experiences, I have been building my key items I always want to have with me to help protect and enhance my immunity, bring peace of mind, and relax my body.


TOP 7-Immune Enhancing Travel Items to Take With You

 

              1. Chlorella

Chlorella is a phenomenal plant-based source of protein.  It has factors in it that help bind toxins, including heavy metals, chemicals, and pesticides and help the body eliminate them out of the fat tissues (where toxins are stored) (1, 2)

Chlorella is also very high level of chlorophyll.  Chlorophyll is very similar to hemoglobin in red blood cells, making it an incredible source to alkalize and cleanse the blood (3, 4).  Wheatgrass is tooted for being a significant source of chlorophyll at 0.25%, however, chlorella is 10% chlorophyll, which is 10X the amount in wheatgrass juice.

Two Tips When Sourcing Chlorella:

  1. Ensure it is broken cell-walled chlorella, as the nutrients and factors in chlorella are within the cell and the body can not break down the outer cell wall, therefore, to ensure chlorella is in a form that is bioavailable, seek out a product with at least 80% digestibility, so you are not just flushing the chlorella out into the toilet.
  2. You want to organically source chlorella so it was grown without chemicals and pesticides

Activated charcoal is made by burning wood, debris or coconut shells, which is my preferred typed, at a high temperature to remove all the oxygen and also activates it with gases like steam producing a highly adsorbent material with millions of tiny pores that bind and remove toxins, heavy metals, chemicals and intestinal gases.  

This adsorption helps ELIMINATE, different from absorption, which helps assimilate or soak up.

The reason activated charcoal is able to adsorb is because of it's negative charge. The negative charge attracts the positive charge of toxins and helps remove them from the body.

This is a similar process to what happens in your body when you have spent a day at the beach, walked barefoot on grass (earthing), got muddy, or surrounded yourself with nature, you feel a sense of rejuvenation, calm, or energy.

Why?

The earth, too has a negative charge, and it is this charge that is extremely healing for our bodies and minds because it helps balance us out when we are exposed to a lot of positive charge technological devices.

cleasning for the skin, increase immune system internally, helps heal cuts, wounds, skin infections.  It contains 12x the antiseptic power of phenols (16).

cleanses the respiratory system, clears breathing, soothes digestive difficulties, eases headaches, repels bugs, decreases heartburn and indigestion (17).

Lemon

lemon rind is use and is an antifungal, antioxidant, antiviral, purifier, disinfectant for the air and surfaces, helps with digestion and intestinal parasites, and can help increase mood aromatically (18).

Oregano

is an antiviral, antibacterial, antifungal, antiparasitic,antioxidant and immune stimulant.  It contains carvacrol and thymol, both of which inhibit bacterial reproduction.  One important thing to remember with oregano oil is it can upset your good bacteria in your gut as well, so best to also take probiotics if you ever do choose to use it internally (19).
