2017 Holiday Gift Guide for Health, Performance & Resiliency

holiday gift guide

This time of year is always interesting.  It is a time of year that there is a craze of madness happening in all the hustle and bustle of shopping, have-to-dos, events and gatherings and then people feeling tired and stressed due to the holiday season and getting everything done (especially gift buying) on time.

However, I feel this time of year is simple.  It is just about connecting and sharing time with those you love.

That said, gift giving is truly a beautiful thing and when we are not pressed to just "get a gift" but put thought, reason and love behind it, it takes on a whole different meaning.  This time of year is also an incredible opportunity to share health, high performance, resiliency, self-care and earth-care by investing in gifts that will make a true impact.

Do you have a special someone who is all about health, performance, or sustainability, but you are not sure what to get for this person?  Or, maybe you want to give the gift of true health to someone who you love and want to help them get a kick-start to improving their health and life?

If you do, below I have listed some of my favorite fresh, functional, and sustainable gift ideas for anybody to enhance their health, wellness, performance or resiliency.

I hope you find something that may be just right.

Live Better

In the Home

TrueDark Glasses or Swannies

Incredible junk light blockers, helping to block out the extreme blue light during the day with the TrueDark DayWalkers and all blue light with TrueDark Twilights.  I have been loving these two glasses and use them daily to optimize my energy, decrease eye strain and enjoy deeper sleep, especially when being exposed to smart devices and working on a computer (and are also amazing for travelling and in places with a lot of artificial lighting!).

Himilayan Salt Lamp

I love using a couple salt lamps around my desk to give a soothing environment.  They are also awesome in the evening too.

In the Bathroom

Dry Skin Brush

Great took to have to not only exfoliate the skin before showering, but activating the lymphatic system stimulating and assisting toxins to be released.

Tongue Scraper

Help remove the gunk from your tongue after a night's sleep with this guy!  Your body has done some detoxifying overnight and best to get rid of the work it has done for you to keep your oral hygiene optimal.

Epsom Salts

Epsom salts are rich in magnesium, which can sooth and relax sore muscles, helping with any type of inflammation and pain, as well as stress relief.

Shower Water Filter

A drinking water filter is one thing (and extremely important), but in the shower we are also exposed to many toxins and impurities especially with hot water. This filter removes impurities from your shower water, and you will likely even notice changes in how your hair and skin feel :)

In the Kitchen

Glass Straws

If you are a smoothie drinker (like I am), then try these out.  There is something about sipping out of a straw, and these glass ones are great and super easy to clean (with a little brush).  I also love drinking my fresh lemon water with a straw so the citrus doesn't touch my lips.

Nut Mylk Bag

It is so easy to make your own plant-based mylk with simply owning a nut mylk bag.  This is a great gift for anyone who want to start making their own mylks from scratch (almond, walnuts, coconut, etc.)

Sprouting Jar or Kit

I always suggest sprouting on your own because most sprouts can be simply sprouted in a jar and it is WAY LESS expensive than buying that box of alfalfa or red clover sprouts from the grocery store.  Great for anyone wanting to get more live enzymes into their diet.

Vitamix or BlendTec

A must have for anyone who loves to prepare deliciously smooth food: smoothies, soups, pates, sauces and have it be divine.

Excalibur Dehydrator or here

Know someone who wants to make more of there own activated foods like raw crackers, flatbread, burgers, trail mix, fruit leather, flavoured seeds or nuts, cookies, pizza crusts and more?  This would be it.

Spiralizer or here

Who wants super colorful and fun noodles?  YES PLEASE!  From sweet potato, zucchini, carrot, beets, broccoli stalks, daikon, cucumber, or parsnip simply transformed them into live raw noodles in no time.

On the Road

I love this bottle, keeps liquids hot or cold, super durable and easy to clean.

LifeStraw Filtration Water Bottle.

I was first introduced to this product while in Costa Rica, when a friend gifted me the straw, which filters water as your drink.  This is a great gift for someone who just loves to travel!

Eye Mask

No matter where you sleep (home, plane, hotel, airbnb...) this is a must for blocking out light and sleeping in the dark to optimize quality and depth of sleep cycles.

Bose Noise Cancelling Headphones

Have a frequent traveller that you know?  Help them keep it quiet while they work or sleep (especially to cut out ambient noise like on an aircraft).

In the Garden or Outdoors

Organic Seed Bombs with Recycled Paper

Make your own organic seed bombs to gift next year's gardener.  These are so much fun and a way to get high quality seeds in the ground.  Quality seeds are life, and we need to save them. Guerrilla gardening, anyone?

Essential Oils

To have the most nutrient-dense plants comes from the life in the soil, so focusing on getting the life (all the microorganisms) back in the soil in the right balance is critical, but as you or your green thumb friend/family member does so, there are a few essential oils that can be very helpful as naturally pest repellents:

  • TerraShield® Essential Oil (a blend of Ylang Ylang, Cedarwood, Catnip, Lemon, Eucalyptus, Litsea, Arborvitae, Nootka, and Vanilla Bean Absolute) is a great natural bug repellent for putting on your ankles, arms, neck and can also to use in the garden to repel beetles.
  • Peppermint oil is great for aphids, ants and mystery bugs AND it also feels amazing spraying it on your face to cool off and be refreshed.
  • Basil essential oil can be used in a foliar spray bottle or add it to your watering system to help support tomato growth and health (as basil is a great companion for tomatoes, especially if you do not have basil growing among your tomatoes).

Essential Oils  (sign up for a wholesale account to save 25%+)

I have been using essential oils for almost four years now. I started out using them for balance and protecting myself against environmental threats with a special 5 oil blend.  I have fallen in love with oils and now use them daily aromatically, topically or internally depending on the oil and its' uses and how I feel, whether I am at home or on the road.  If you or someone you’re gifting them to wants to learn about the power of plants via essential oils and how to begin using them, just get in touch with me and I would love to share!

Essential Oil Diffuser (sign up for a wholesale account to save $20)

One of the ways essential oils can help cleanse the space, air, surfaces and bring feelings of ease, relaxation and joy into the body is aromatically.  Whether in the home, workplace or office, simply diffusing oils has so many benefits for mood and focus.  Therefore, a diffuser is a great tool to have on hand when using essential oils.  Let me know if you need help selecting which oils would be best for what you want them to help you with or the person you are gifting it to.
